Call for Reviews

This column highlights the amazing and important children’s books that have been published in the last few years. These are the books that focus on critical media issues that inform us, tell us the truth, help us to question the inequities in the world, and inspire us to work for equity and justice. These books offer Latino/a, Black, Asian, Anglo, and indigenous voices that reflect the cultural, linguistic, historic, ethnic, gender, (and more) perspectives that are essential to academics, teachers, and global citizens. These books advocate for all students, teachers and people including underrepresented populations, dual language learners, students living in poverty, students with disabilities and LGBTQ and bullied youth. Some of these books are multi-genre and push the boundaries of traditional books. All these books need to be in classrooms and in children’s hands. As the book bans increase in the US and other parts of the world, it is even more important for us to read these books and become advocates for them. These books honor the literacies and languages of all our students, in all their diverse and multi-faceted expressions and creations, every day and in every way. We look forward to hearing from you about the reviews on the books, how you might use them, and future book recommendations.

Dialogue is looking for experienced academics or teachers to review new critical media literacy children’s books. We are actively seeking reviews for the following books:

Guidelines for Review-short articles reviewing critical media children’s media including, books, graphic novels, audio and video books, etc.

• MLA or APA Format
• Length: 1,200-1,800 words (inclusive of endnotes and citations)
• Editorial Review-To be considered for online first publication
