Call for Papers – Rolling Submissions

Topics are particularly welcomed that address a scholarly examination of popular culture and pedagogy, such as:

• Relationships between literature, culture, music, technology, gender, ethnicity, and media;
• Theoretical, practical, pedagogical, and historical examinations of popular culture, including interdisciplinary discussions and those which examine the intersections between American and international cultures; and
• Interviews, reviews of books, films, conferences, music, and technology.

Our Inaugural Poetry Theme

For our inaugural call for poetry submissions, Dialogue invites submissions of poetry focused on pop cultureand/or pedagogy from graduate student authors! Writing can be inspired by graduate experiences in and/or outside of the classroom, based on class assignments and projects, or simply poems you have been working on, so long as they relate to pop culture and pedagogy!

Quality

As with any other journal to which you would send your work, please have a look at our previous issues to see what we like before submitting. Your publishing history does not necessarily matter, but the quality of the work does. We expect your best work in its final form. We read lots of submissions, and we try to connect deeply with each one.

Feedback

Our call for poems will be open from October 31 – December 15, 2024. By January 1st, we will let you know whether your poems will be Accepted without Revisions, Accepted Pending Revisions, or Released for Consideration Elsewhere.

We will only provide feedback for poems submitted within the reading period. Poems submitted outside of this period may be considered for publication in future issues with author permission, but we cannot guarantee publication or feedback.

Please note: defamatory, discriminatory, plagiarized, and/or AI-generated submissions will not be considered, and senders of such work will be banned from submitting to Dialogue in the future.

Simultaneous submissions & formatting

Writers are allowed and encouraged to submit to multiple places. However, please let us know immediately if your poem(s) have been accepted elsewhere, as you must then withdraw your submission from consideration with Dialogue.

Writers are invited to submit 1-3 one-page poems in Microsoft Word AND PDF format to poetry@journaldialogue.org.
